Welcome to our newest addition to the church web site. So, what is this page all about? As a part of a greater plan to incorporate a more proactive emphasis on discipleship, this site will operate as an online library of articles and audio files designed for growing Christians. The material you will find here should be helpful if you are seeking to know more about Christianity, if you are a new Christian wanting to learn the basics, if you are looking for helpful information to assist you in Christian growth, and if you want to know what you can do to reproduce what Christ has planted in you into the lives of others. We will be adding new materials regularly so visit here often enough to see what new materials have been added. The link below to a site called Crosswalk.com provides a large list of daily devotionals and other Bible study tools. You can subscribe to them and they will be sent to your e-mail account each day. Take a look! I currently have three of them coming to me daily. I especially like Streams in the Desert. Ed
The Monvee.com web based discipleship tool is available for any growing Christian to use for spiritual development. This site is not free; there is a one time charge of 19:99, but I believe it is well worth the investment for anyone who likes to use internet based tools and wants to grow as a Christian. I have been a Monvee subscriber for about a month and have already received three good books free of charge. There is a diagnostic survey to take when you subscribe, and from that survey Monvee creates a customized plan for you based on your temperament, learning style, barriers to growth, and your personal interests. Discipleship groups are small groups of two or three Christians who get together on a regular basis for the purpose of helping each other to grow in their Christian walk. There are many different ways this can be done, and the links below are examples of those ways. This information was supplied by Jared Looney, brother of our own member, Kevin Looney, and a church planter who has started a cell church on the east coast using these methods to encourage spiritual formation among the members of those cells. Dr. David Timms, professor at Hope International University, and son of John Timms, (one of our missionarys to India), produces a weekly devotion you can subscribe to by going to David’s site and subscribing. He has also written three excellent books on the Christian life, one of which is about the Lord’s prayer. Take a look and see if you want to add this to your spiritual input.
Bible Gateway.com is a great on line Bible study tool to assist with looking up verses on various topics. It includes several Bible versions you can search as well as a “verse of the day” you can use in your devotional time. This Bible search engine is rich with features and study aids, and best of all it is free.
One of the options for a growing Christian is to participate in a daily journal. This can be a useful tool for spiritual formation. I am in the process of using this free online site called Penzu for my personal daily journal. It is secure and very easy to use. Click on the link and check it out. Ed
